Exploring the individual condition, I have been responding to the city where the individual – though in a crowd – can experience disrupted communication, isolation and alienation. This work focuses on the edge of the urban crowd, peripheral wastelands where elements of the crowd begin to separate toward the individual. This urban perimeter, where nature interfaces with man-made structures and technology, creates metaphors for the individual, isolated and alienated, yet still seeking to make connections.
